Scam Alert: Private Health Insurance

We’ve recently become aware that some people have received phone calls and text messages from a company called AUS-COVER offering private health insurance, policy reviews, or energy comparison services. Austcover have not sanctioned this activity.


Due to the similarity in names, some recipients may mistakenly believe these communications are from Austcover. We would like to clarify that Austcover is not associated with AUS-COVER or these activities in any way.

Austcover does not conduct unsolicited cold-calling campaigns for private health insurance or utility comparison services, and we do not offer these products.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Verify the company. Businesses offering financial services must have a Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) Ask them to provide this number and request to see their Financial Services Guide (FSG).
  • Be cautions of unexpected phone calls. If you are unsure of the callers identity or legitimacy, do not provide any personal or financial information.
  • Be cautious of links sent via SMS. Austcover will never ask you to verify your details or make a payment via a text message link.
  • Report anything suspicious. If you receive a suspicious call, email, or message, we encourage you to report activity to www.scamwatch.gov.au.
